The calculator takes game data and part of the descriptions from the NWN wiki on Fandom and adapts them to the rules it computes. This page is the attribution the license of those texts requires.

NWN Wiki (Fandom)

nwn.fandom.com — the base (vanilla) rules of Neverwinter Nights. From this wiki's articles we parsed the progression tables of all 23 classes (base attack, the three saves, skill points, casters' spell slots), the requirements and descriptions of 299 feats and prestige classes, 7 races with their ability modifiers, 28 skills, 303 spells and the rules for epic levels 21–40. These are not a few separate quotes — this is the foundation of the calculator's whole model, and without this data layer the calculator computes nothing at all.

Every fact in our data keeps the title of its source page, the page's revision number and the date we took it — any number can be checked against them.

How disputed points were settled

Some facts about the rules are not a hole in the calculation but a decision: where the wikis disagree with each other (or where Fandom does not name what the game says), we choose and say plainly how; where no page states a number in words, we name the accepted constant with its source. The list below is not what we can't calculate but a list of SUCH decisions, in full, uncut.

How source disagreements were resolved

Derived, not read · 1

  • class skills are gathered as the union of the class page and the skill page

Sources disagree · 8

  • sources disagree on whether Pick pocket is a class skill for Harper scout (only on the class page) — taken as a class skill
  • sources disagree on whether Craft armor is a class skill for Purple dragon knight (only on the class page) — taken as a class skill
  • sources disagree on whether Craft trap is a class skill for Purple dragon knight (only on the class page) — taken as a class skill
  • sources disagree on whether Craft weapon is a class skill for Purple dragon knight (only on the class page) — taken as a class skill
  • sources disagree on whether Discipline is a class skill for Purple dragon knight (only on the class page) — taken as a class skill
  • sources disagree on whether Heal (skill) is a class skill for Purple dragon knight (only on the skill page) — taken as a class skill
  • sources disagree on whether Persuade is a class skill for Purple dragon knight (only on the class page) — taken as a class skill
  • sources disagree on whether Perform requires training (only the category says so) — the page label is taken

License

The text of NWN Wiki articles is licensed under Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 3.0 Unported (CC BY-SA 3.0) (full text).

The material has been changed: we parsed the articles' prose into structured data — so this is a derivative work, not a copy of the original text.

Under the same license's share-alike condition, our derived rules layer is distributed on the same terms — CC BY-SA 3.0: you may copy and adapt it further, crediting the source the same way.

Feat and spell icons

The icons are taken from NWN Wiki (Fandom). They are interface elements of the game Neverwinter Nights itself: the rights to them belong to BioWare and Beamdog, and the CC BY-SA license the wiki's texts are published under does not cover the images.

The calculator is a non-commercial fan tool and is not affiliated with BioWare, Beamdog or Fandom. The images will be removed at the rights holder's request.

Visit counter

We count visits ourselves, without cookies and without third-party scripts. A visit counts only when a page opens in a live browser, so link previews and most bots are left out. To tell visitors apart within one day we keep a one-way hash of the address and browser name mixed with a key that changes every day and is never written down; the address and browser name themselves are not stored. We record which kind of page was opened (a build page, never the build itself), the name of the site you came from, the link's utm tags, and calculator events: a build opened by link, an export downloaded, an import, a build reaching the last non-epic level and the level cap. Not a single build ends up in these statistics.
